Our goal is to have a functioning spec for music packages in less than 6 months. Although Project Opus is leading this project, the specification will be OPEN. So anyone interested in particpating in this project is welcome. This is also your invitation to offer criticism openly and hopefully constructively.

This project is not just for technologists. As this project is about music and other media, we would actively seek the input of musicians, music labels, visual artists, and fans.

We are going to start the project with a 0.1 release of the specification which we will post to the site next week. Feel free to beat on it. It's not set in stone, we simply felt it was better to start with the beginnings of a spec to focus our attention rather than a complete free for all.
